We want anyone who needs a roof looked at to be able to use this website and reach us. That includes people using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, using magnification, or browsing with motion reduced.
The standard we work to
We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We describe that as a target rather than a certification, because we have not had an independent accessibility audit of this site. Saying otherwise would be a claim we cannot back.
What we have done
- Every image has a real description. Empty alt text is treated as a defect in our build rules, not a shortcut, and photographs are described by what they actually show.
- The site works from the keyboard. There is a skip link to the main content, the mobile menu can be opened and closed with the keyboard, it keeps focus inside itself while open, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the button that opened it.
- Text contrast is deliberate. Our brand orange does not pass contrast requirements as text, so we use a darker orange for text and reserve the brand shade for non-text elements.
- Motion is optional. Animated elements, including the scrolling certification logos and card hover effects, hold still for visitors whose system is set to reduce motion.
- Structure is real, not visual. Headings are ordered, data tables use proper header cells and captions, and forms use real labels.
- The site is checked on a phone. An automated browser check runs against every page at phone width to catch layouts that overflow or trap content off-screen.
Where we know we fall short
We would rather name gaps than imply there are none. We have not had an independent audit. Some older photographs have shorter descriptions than we would write today. Third-party content we embed, such as review widgets and mapping, is not fully under our control, and a document we link to on a building department's website is governed by that department's accessibility, not ours.
If something does not work for you
Tell us and we will fix it, and we will help you get what you needed in the meantime. You do not need to explain why, and you will not get a form to fill in.
